Lyceum of the Philippines, Davao

Client: Lyceum of the Philippines

The Lyceum of the Philippines University - Davao Campus is a 16.65-hectare institutional development in Sasa, Davao City.

It is LPU’s first academic institution outside Luzon, in addition to the university’s established campuses in Manila, Makati, Batangas, Laguna, and Cavite. The institutional landscape design aims to encourage academic learning, social responsibility, and environmental awareness that are parallel to LPU’s vision of promoting innovation and excellence

in education. The natural sloping grade of the central park was terraced to provide opportunities for hosting events such as graduations and outdoor performances. On ordinary days, these spaces become casual social spaces for students and faculty, or as outdoor classrooms. A circular platform at the northern end of the park doubles as a stage and terraced seating area. Environmental awareness is promoted through sustainable solutions to stormwater management and the use of indigenous plant species. To further cultural and historical awareness, several indigenous tribal names are engraved into the seat walls of the central park.
