The proposed new town of approximately 160 hectares resides in Jaro, Iloilo, Philippines. The locale is an unassuming site delineated by a wide expanse of rice paddies and levees and a portion of a vigorous and meandering Saulog River. The river’s dominating presence provides an opportunity to enhance Rio Vista’s image. Creating a recreational water feature such as a five hectare lake morphing from Salog River will serve as an identity, amenity and a source of civic pride for the new town. Rio Vista’s program elements call for diverse types of housing, commercial, recreational and institutional land uses. Portions of the man-made lake will pay homage to waterfront housing and the town’s communal clubhouse and recreational center.
